7 rules that changed my life
Life is full of challenges and struggles. We all want to become better versions of ourselves to get happiness, satisfaction, and success in our lives. We seek several quick ways to fix our struggles in life, but they don’t help us long-term. But if you follow these rules that would change your life every day, they greatly impact your life.
If you are constantly looking for ways to solve those challenges, then this writing is for you. In this article, we are going to lay out the 7 rules that changed my life, and may very well change your life as well.
Rule 1: Follow your heart
Nothing is wrong with following your heart. Many people follow others’ orders and rules instead of following their own, which results in ultimate pain and regrets in one’s life. Following your heart is a simple rule, but you need courage and self-love to follow it effectively and get the most out of it.
When you follow your heart, you rely on yourself more than others. You do things you love that fill most of your life with joy and wisdom that you get from your own experiences.
When you follow your heart, you achieve more things that matter to you the most. Most importantly, you live on your own terms without worrying about the world and the surrounding people.
For most people, following this rule is tough, as they were programmed to care about what others think about them and the judgment they allow from others about their life.
Once you break this mental barrier of “WHAT OTHERS THINK” that stops you from following your heart, you will live a life without limits, and you will experience genuine happiness, joy, wisdom, and peace in life.
Rule 2: Be yourself
Do you know people who always try to impress others? Do you know people who please others always to get things in life? Do you call these people genuine?
Of course, No. These people are fake. They act against their consciousness to get things in life and to make others like them. They accept and tolerate all negativity in life, which results in a mental drain.
If you are one of them, I suggest you stop doing so. Stop living to please others and live to please yourself. You may compare with others in several aspects of life. You need to realize that each person has a different or unique life.
You can’t compare sun and moon. They have their own time and own importance. In the same way, you are unique, and you have your own importance. Stop living to impress others. Stop living to please others and be yourself.
Being yourself is the greatest act one can perform for a fulfilled life. When you are just yourself. You live more, enjoy more, and appreciate more in life. You will have more wonderful memories and fewer excuses or complaints about life.
Live your life on your own terms starting today. Be yourself every time in every situation. Don’t wear any fake masks to impress others and lose yourself. Being yourself will help you find yourself.
Rule 3: Take risks
Are you scared of taking risks? If yes, why? Whenever you are scared of risks, ask why you are scared and is that fear of taking that risk genuine? In most cases, your fear is not true at all. Fears are illusions we create in our heads when we can’t accept change or growth because of comfort and laziness.
Taking risks is a grand act. The more risks you take, the more active your life is. Many people try to escape and ignore risks, and they choose what’s easy and what’s comfortable and these people are normal people who are in huge numbers. Only there are less than 1% of people who take risks as opportunities. They grab these opportunities and start acting on them without any delay.
These people become great people. These people stand away from normal people because they took risks, and they made a difference. If you want to be that 1%, take risks, grab opportunities and be consistent.
Remember: Not taking risks is a real risk.
By taking risks, you lose nothing. You lose everything by not taking risks. If you are not taking risks because you are scared of losing and criticism from others, it's a false fear you need to give up. This fear may be true, but it’s temporary until you take action on the risk you are presented with before you.
Rule 4: Let go of negative thoughts and emotions
Thinking produces both negative thoughts and positive thoughts. Let me tell you the truth. You can’t avoid negative thinking and emotions. It’s part of the thinking process. But you can let go of them by ignoring them and focussing only on positive thoughts and emotions.
Let negative thoughts and emotions come and go. Don’t focus so much on them. They help you understand the value of positive thoughts and emotions. They create balance in the mind.
Negative thoughts and emotions can be incredibly debilitating and keep us stuck in unhealthy patterns. It is important to learn how to let go of these thoughts and emotions in order to move on with our lives.
One way to let go of negative thoughts is to simply acknowledge them. Acknowledge that the thought is there, but don’t dwell on it. Tell yourself that you don’t have to believe everything that you think.
Another way to let go of negative thoughts is to practice self-compassion. Be gentle with yourself, and understand that everyone makes mistakes. Accept that you are human and flawed, but that doesn’t mean that you are a bad person.
Finally, try to focus on the positive things in your life. This can be difficult when we are feeling down, but it is important to remember that there is always some good in every situation.
Rule 5: Appreciate everything
In life, we are often quick to complain and not appreciate what we have. We might focus on the negative things that happen to us or the things we don’t have, rather than being grateful for what we do have. It’s important to remember that everything in life is a gift, and we should be grateful for each and everything.
When you appreciate everything, it changes your attitude and your outlook on life. You become happier and more positive, and you’re less likely to complain about small things. Being grateful for what you have opens up the door for more good things to come into your life.
So next time you find yourself complaining, stop and think about all of the things you should be grateful for instead. It might be hard at first, but with practice, you’ll find that appreciating everything becomes second nature.
Rule 6: Give more than you take
Giving has great importance. People who give more and take less are happier than people who give less and take more. You can start giving today.
This can be done in a number of ways, such as volunteering, donating to charity, or simply being kind to others. There are many benefits to giving more than you take.
One of the main benefits is that it leads to happiness. Numerous studies have shown that people who are generous and help others are generally happier than those who don’t. This may be because helping others makes us feel good about ourselves and makes us feel like we are contributing to something larger than ourselves.
Another benefit of giving more than you take is peace of mind. When we do something good for someone else, it tends to make us feel good about ourselves. This can lead to a sense of inner peace and calmness.
Remember: Producers are happier than consumers.
Keep giving and this creates or enhances self-love and happiness in one’s life.
Rule 7: Live in the present moment
I hear this a lot, to live in the present moment. It’s a simple concept that requires a lot of effort and patience. Many people dwell in the past and keep suffering and many other people worry about their future. They forgot to live at this moment, enjoying their life.
Live in the present moment. It is the only moment that truly exists. The past is gone, and the future has not happened yet. When you live in the present, you are fully alive and experiencing life to its fullest. You are not dwelling on the past or worrying about the future. You are living in the moment and enjoying what is happening right now.
The present moment is a gift, and it is worth taking advantage of. When you are living in the present, you are more focused and alert. You are able to appreciate all the small things that make life beautiful. You can enjoy a sunset or listen to the rain without feeling like you should be doing something else.
It can be difficult to live in the present sometimes, especially when we are faced with difficult situations. But it is worth it to try to stay in the moment as much as possible.
