Don’t let your emotions control you.

“Emotions are natural. Each one of us experiences them. Some emotions are good, and some emotions are bad. When you have control over them, it’s good. When they have control over you, that’s bad.”

Emotions are how we react to situations in life. Good emotions bring happiness, and bad emotions bring sadness. The pain of bad emotions is uncontrollable. That’s why have control over your emotions.

As per several types of research, emotions are good and it doesn’t matter whatever your emotions are good or bad. However, bad emotions make people lose mental stability. They may even make people go mad completely.

The problem is we don’t take a pause and look at our emotions. If you take a pause and try to understand your emotions. You may gain better control over them.

You need not worry about good emotions, but you need to take care of bad ones. You need to find the causes and effects of them. Then you have to use this knowledge to create self-awareness and self-control.

Some emotions cause self-harm and some emotions cause harm to others when expressed. These emotions are responses that happen in subcortical areas of the brain which produce chemicals that affect the physical state.

Adrenaline is a hormone that is released in our body in most of the emotional states. If it is produced at low levels, it’s good. If it is produced in huge levels, it affects our body.

There are several negative emotions that suffer us mentally and make us weak. They are anger, fear, sadness, shame, anxiety, etc.

Many of you know the effect of these emotions in life. How bad they are. You need to realize their impact on your life and face them to become better.

Imagine you are experiencing the bad emotions now, how do you feel? Of course, uncomfortable and bad. What if these emotions consume the majority of your life? Your life would be uncomfortable, and that’s why you need to give your control to such emotions.

You can control your emotions in several ways and have control, you need to make up your mind first.

  • Realize: Understand these emotions are bad and realize the effect of them on you. Accept they are bad for you, and ignore them.
  • Meditate: Take deep breaths or sit silently for a while to decrease the intensity of these emotions in you.
  • Respond: Understand your emotions and why they arouse and then fix it. Don’t react to your emotions. Respond to them by understanding them well.
  • Share: If you are feeling bad, share your emotions with the people you trust. This way you feel better.

“One who controls their emotions can control anything in their life.”

Have emotions of all kinds, but make sure you have enough control over them. Lack of control over them is the reason many are suffering every day and making wrong decisions all the life.
